Q: “As a non-professional in the plant industry, I would assume that spring is the most popular season for customers to flood Indian Creek. Is this true?”
A: “Early spring when we see the first buds start to pop out on Redbuds and Cherry trees always brings an influx to the nursery! A little fun fact about the nursery is: if it is in bloom around town, we are probably selling it! So often customers bring in photos of what they have seen blooming and want to purchase it. We do our best to keep the current blooms in stock.
Although spring is our busiest season, fall also brings quite a bit of traffic to the nursery as well. Spring is the refreshing/replenishing season whereas most people think of fall as being the optimum time to plant trees. And even though summer and winter are slower, you still have new builds or outdoor special occasions. Regardless of the season, we are here to help!”
Q: Is summertime a well-trafficked season for a nursery? Why or why not?
A: “During the summer months, we still see a lot of traffic due to customers sprucing up their pool areas, front porches, flower beds, and backyards for outdoor fun like cookouts!
It’s not as busy as spring and fall though. There are several shrubs and perennials that offer summer interest that you don’t get with some of the early/late bloomers and those items bring in that “summertime” gardener. ”
Q: What plants do you recommend planting during the summer months?
A: “Camellias, roses, vitex, and magnolias!
Often customers load up on spring blooms without realizing that so many plants don’t start to bloom until summer. If you are looking for year-round colors and interests, it’s important to shop all seasons.
Summer is a great time to implement a butterfly garden, most of which also attract hummingbirds! Butterfly bushes, milkweed, coneflowers, and many more are nectar plants that bloom throughout summer. We also carry many host plants like ornamental grasses, daisies, and more.
There is really no time you can’t plant; There are just some times that are more optimal than others. Anytime is a good time to plant as long as you are aware of water requirements and are prepared to create and adhere to a schedule to ensure adequate care.”
Q: Why should someone come to browse this nursery for their shrubs, trees, etc/ over going to a big box store?
“Our mission statement is to ‘Honor God by Growing Quality, Convenience & Character.’ As a company, we ensure that the growers we purchase from provide quality material (Every year, Our purchaser takes multiple trips to personally put eyes on our growers’ plants and their care processes and create relationships with the owners!
The care our plants receive on our grounds is top-notch. We aim for our nursery to be a convenient place to shop, from the information on our plant signage to our knowledgeable staff that will help you find what you are looking for.
Lastly, we pride ourselves on character by exemplifying our core values. Also, the majority of our plants come from a short driving distance. When you support our small, local, family-owned nursery, you are also supporting small, local, family-owned growers!
We are proud of the quality and knowledge of customer service, our extensive inventory, the quality and care of plant material, our Christ-like values, and being family-owned. Our employees are passionate about the nursery and love sharing that passion with our customers!
Q: Do you offer delivery of really big items?
A: “Boy, do we! We can deliver one tree or five trailers full of plants. Our delivery services also extend to bulk materials such as mulch, soil conditioner, and topsoil.”
Everything we carry can be delivered with the exception of palletized material. The fees range based on distance, and if extra equipment is needed to unload the materials. 9.999 times out of 10, we can get your new plants to you!”
Q: What else do you want guests to know about Indian Creek Wholesale Nursery and everything you offer during the summer months?
A: “Our spring rush is so busy. Coming in the summer months you have a better chance to get more individualized service. We can never guarantee how many customers will be at the nursery, but with less traffic in the summer, the odds are in your favor.
There are several areas of the nursery that are shaded, and some of our customers will stop by just to walk around during a lunch break, with relatives that are in town, or with new friends who are moving to the area. Whether you’re ready to purchase or just want to wander around, we’d love to see you!”
