Last night, the Rocket City Fair was so much fun! We took our three elementary-aged kids and stayed for four hours! We ended the night watching The Lady Houdini show, and two of our kids shocked us by saying that the show was their favorite part of the fair because it was so entertaining and impressive. They’d never seen anything like it! The petting zoo had camels and even a six-month-old baby kangaroo, so our kids were in heaven.
The fair is in a new area of John Hunt Park this year, with a chunk of it paved, which we loved. There were two clear aisles of rides that we just walked up and down, going on ride after ride. Our youngest is almost five and is right at 42” inches tall, so as long as she rode the rides with us, she could do almost every ride. Hearing her laughter on some of the faster rides had me howling!
My recommendation is to buy your tickets ahead of time online so that when you arrive, all you have to do is have them scan your online tickets, and you’re good to go. If you plan to ride rides, go ahead and pay for a wristband instead of buying individual tickets. It makes everything easier and allows you to go from ride to ride.
We enjoyed the live music, especially at sunset. The sun setting behind the band made for such a pretty scene!
Bring extra money to play classic fair games or buy food. There are so many options for food!
Parking is $5 and can be paid with cash, Venmo, or cash app.
ATMs are on-site, but cards are accepted by a lot of the vendors.
Visit their website to determine the best ticketing option for you. They have a handful of options. Go be a kid again, and have so much fun!
