A place where people gather and want to stay: This was Norbert Webley’s dream when designing and building out NOW Soccer Academy’s brand new 25,000 square feet indoor arena here in Madison.
This expansive, impressive, one-of-a-kind facility is finally open as of December 2021, and Webley says his dream has quickly come true.
“I have always wanted a place where people didn’t want to go home. I wanted somewhere that was spacious enough that people would stick around, interact, and kick the soccer ball around,” he shares.
Webley says that this is the exact feedback he’s quickly received upon opening his third Madison facility off Westchester Road, and he’s absolutely elated.
Webley says that he consulted many players and parents prior to designing the building because he valued their opinions and deeply wanted to create a building that felt like their own.
“Kids are wanting to keep this place clean and train here, and I’m hearing that we’ve over-delivered on what people’s expectations would be of this arena.”
For Webley, soccer is so much more than a game or two on a Saturday. It’s a lifestyle and an experience that he invites anyone and everyone to be a part of if they’d like to.
He says the lacrosse community has also very quickly jumped on board with the new facility and is keeping it filled up.
“It warms my heart to see the lacrosse community loving this place. James Clemens and Bob Jones teams are both here often. It’s been exposed to UAH’s program too, and I’m glad we are able to help facilitate our local college.”
When asked what visitors are specifically loving about NOW Soccer Academy’s brand new, regulation-sized indoor field, he quickly shares that the lobby space is a dream and a breath of fresh air for spectators.
“Being able to watch the games from the sidelines is awesome,” says Webley. “There’s so much space, and people aren’t on top of each other.”
He says that people are also excited about a concept like this actually existing in our suburban community.
“This area didn’t have a true arena, but we are regulation-sized and could actually be a hub for the National Indoor Soccer League.”
He says that concession options will soon be offered and have parents and players alike excited.
“Moms and Dads will be so happy that their kids will have food available in the evening while they’re training,” he shared.
NOW Soccer will soon be a pick-up station for Fit Fast Meals, which is just one way that they’re branching into the nutrition side of things.
“We are in this to build a complete player”, shared Webley. “We offer this tactical training environment, but the sport is also psychological and physical. We are putting pillars in place so that when you come in here, you see those pillars.”
Webley says that his coaching staff will soon be incorporating nutritional plans as part of developing a “whole player”. He says that the nutritional elements are all part of offering this high-level training program.
“There is an opportunity to be seen and be a part of something really special here at NOW Soccer. I want the community to know that there is something for everybody here.”
Webley is excited to offer another round of the cadet soccer program again in March (a 10-week program for children ages 4-7). He says there are also plans to bring back the Kickstart program for 2-3 year old toddlers that are looking to have fun, kick a ball, and be introduced to the love of the game.
NOW Soccer is passionate about offering competitive opportunities via their youth and adult soccer leagues and offers them multiple times throughout the year. Those interested are invited to sign up as a team or as an individual free agent (who will then be added to a team!)
Webley invites those who are interested in learning more about what makes NOW Soccer unique to follow along on social media and keep an eye out for their upcoming open house (date TBD). Webley says that they will serve food, offer tours of the facilities, and have the staff and coaches available to answer questions.
Author note: We signed up our second grader to play as a free agent in the youth league this winter, and she is having a great time. She plays against really skilled competitors, which has been great for her development. We also appreciate that the facility is indoor and unaffected by the weather. The coaches are the most skilled we’ve ever met and are beyond fabulous with our children. We absolutely love what NOW Soccer stands for and are extremely grateful that it’s available to our children!
