If you’ve ever organized a yard sale, thrown a birthday party, or hosted any kind of event, you know first-hand what it feels like to see attendees walk through the door and support your efforts. To them, it feels like no big deal, but to the person throwing the event, every single individuals’ presence and support means everything.

This is the exact feeling that you’ll be able to give a group of bright, hardworking students this week by attending the first ever “Frozen Flix and Family Movie Night”, presented by the Madison City CEO class.

This event is one night only and happening this Friday evening, December 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the gym at Dublin Park. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and get comfortable with your family and friends before tuning in to a showing of Frozen.

Tickets are available for purchase online and are $5 per person (children two and under are free!) All proceeds from ticket sales and concessions go directly back into ensuring the continuation of the Madison City CEO class, a class comprised of roughly 15 juniors and seniors from James Clemens, Bob Jones, and JPII.

Madison City CEO student Austin Minor says that this event is designed to be a “community event where people can have some fun with their kids indoors and not have to worry about the weather.”

Minor says that the class originally wanted to offer a drive-in outdoor movie experience but ran into trouble with finding a venue, having restrooms on hand, and the overall expense of the outdoor option.

“We then decided as a class to just do all of it inside since it’ll be much warmer anyway.”

Minor shared that this family-friendly movie event is their class’s fall semester business project that they’ve worked together as a group to pull off. Though their class oversearer has been available to answer simple questions, Minor says that the majority of this event has been developed and orchestrated entirely by the students themselves.

Next semester each student will develop and execute his or her own entrepreneur business idea.

“It’s been so much labor,” Minor shared with a laugh. “Putting this together has been very time consuming, but I think we’re all really enjoying it.”

Minor says that each class member has a task in the business model, such as CEO, CFO, marketing, advertising, graphic design, and more.

“I’m really enjoying the marketing part and talking with the community about sponsorships.”

Minor says that he’s genuinely enjoying the class and that he can’t wait to see people come together and enjoy what they’ve all worked so hard on together.

“We hope the community supports us and sees that a group of kids really can pull off a successful event.”

{Author note: I spoke to this class in October and was blown away by their wisdom, maturity, and drive. This class provides local students a wonderful opportunity to “get their hands dirty” and learn about various angles of being an entrepreneur in a way that may shape what they pursue after high school.

Each adult and child that walks through those doors of the Dublin Park gym will make these students’ eyes light up. I want them to high five at the end of the evening and be so proud of their efforts! Please consider purchasing a ticket and showing up to this event on Friday if you’re able. My family will be there with bells on! Thank you!}
