Not only does Lanier House in Madison bring a traditional tea time experience to North Alabama, but the stunningly beautiful and thoughtfully-curated venue itself has been a go-to location for events of all kinds since it first opened in January 2023.
Lanier House is the brain child of Main Street Cafe owners John and Tammy Hall and is now managed by marketing director Raegan Hall, who shares that seeing magical moments take place for her guests at Lanier House is a daily dream come true!
In short, Lanier House offers three tea time opportunities Tuesday through Saturday as well as one Sunday per month (typically the third Sunday, but this varies!)
Lanier Tea House also offers group tea time options and private event hosting too!

Tea times are held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. and are reservation only (reservations can be made here on their website only. Very easy to do!)
Each tea time is 90 minutes, and guests are encouraged to arrive on time to enjoy the 90 minutes fully!
Guests can expect a menu that rotates monthly with each month featuring savory bites, bread items, and sweet treats. There are also three teas served throughout the tea time, one to pair with each course. The monthly menu, along with pictures and descriptions of each menu item, are available to view here.
Bubblies are also available for an additional charge.
Children are welcome to enjoy tea time as well at a reduced price (and with slightly altered savory options).
As aforementioned, afternoon tea times may only be reserved online. No phone calls or walk-ins will be accepted for this tea time service.
(AUTHOR’S NOTE: I personally love having afternoon tea at Lanier House because the food is absolutely delicious (and filling!), the teas pair so well with each course, and the service and attention to detail from the friendly staff is top notch. During each visit (I’ve gone six times I believe!), our food tray and first tea are served on our table within just a couple of minutes, and then my fellow guests and I are invited to chat nearly uninterrupted for the next 90 minutes. It’s wonderful. No decision making over a menu, no ordering time, and no fuss; Just memorable food, tea, and conversation.
If you’re looking for a cozy place to connect to wifi, sip tea, or simply meet a friend for a few cups of tea, Lanier House is now an ideal location to do so Tuesday through Thursday!
New in March 2024, Lanier House now offers bottomless tea service for just $7/person!
Guests are invited to enjoy bottomless tea Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Choose between the three monthly available teas, bring a computer or a friend, and enjoy as much tea as your heart desires for just $7.
If you’re hungry too, add on two scones (monthly flavors rotate) for an additional $8/person. That’s just $15 for bottomless cups of tea and two fresh scones!
Seating for weekday bottomless tea is available by calling ahead only. Simply call 256-631-3057 to inquire about available seating the day before or day of, and then bring yourself or your group to enjoy. Complimentary wifi is available.
Lanier House offers a private venue for various events with flexible rental options. Rental options include facility rental only, rental with appetizers, and rental with full catering from Main Street Cafe.
Lanier House also offers group reservations during normal tea times, which is a wonderful option for small-group baby showers, birthday celebrations, and more. Please note that no decorations are allowed during normal tea times and that this option is not a private venue rental.
