Kathleen’s Bridal: What You’ll Find for Brides, Grooms, Bridesmaids, Mothers, and More

I imagine that it would be fun to be a team member at Kathleen’s Bridal and be able to routinely witness the look on a guest’s face when she walks through the Main Street entrance door to shop for a wedding dress for the first time.

From the immediate displays of glamourous white gowns to the pops of gold accents that adorn the entire shop, Kathleen’s Bridal is designed to make one’s jaw hit the floor while uttering an immediate “aww” or “oh wow” or “oh my goodness” as soon as one steps inside.

Kathleen’s Bridal has been a downtown Madison staple since early 2017 and strives to meet the apparel needs from head to toe for not only brides, but also grooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen, mothers, and flower girls.

A visit to their store is by appointment only, which lends visitors a personalized, custom experience to make sure each and every member of the bridal party and immediate family is outfitted in something that not only makes him or her look and feel their best, but that is also within budget.

Options for Brides

Kathleen’s Bridal carries dresses by more than a dozen designers, including Colby John, Lotus Threads, Eddy K, Chic Nostalgia, and more. Dresses range from roughly $800 to upwards of $3,000, many of which are highly customizable.

Store owner Meighan Winton is passionate about building friendships with many of the designers and invites them to visit the store to meet with brides once or twice (or more) per year via tradeshows. She says that these frequent trade shows are a huge hit with brides because they are able to come into the store and work with a designer directly to customize the dresses of their dreams.

Kathleen’s Bridal has a selection of veils that will knock your socks off. From shorter veils to cathedral veils, the vast selection that beautifully hangs around the store is sure to make the bride feel like a bride. While some veils are more simple, others are dressed up with pearls, crystals, and more to give a bride the exact look she desires.

Winton strives to offer a large variety of dresses at Kathleen’s so that every bride finds something that makes her dream come true. From ballgowns to a-lines to trumpets and more, Kathleen’s has a little bit of something to please all interests.

They even carry a handful of non-traditional dresses that are a bit edgier and more “funky” (think feathers, full-body overlays, and more).

Sales associate Haley Noland says that some of these non-traditional, unexpected dresses have become increasingly popular for destination weddings or as reception dresses!

Bridesmaids

Kathleen’s Bridal carries two bridesmaids lines, Kanali K and Jasmine. Both lines offer dozens of dresses in a variety of styles and colors. In fact, every dress from both designers is available in many styles and colors so that brides can all match in color but alter in style if desired. Bridesmaids are invited to come in as a group or are welcome to call/come in on their own to be sized and order.

Mothers Dresses

“We love mothers!” says Noland, who leads me to an entire area of the store that is full to the brim of dresses of all styles and colors for mothers to select from to wear on their son or daughter’s special day.

Dresses in this section are organized by size and come in a variety of colors that are available to view on a nearby sample swatch. Noland says that Kathleen’s Bridal enjoys hearing about a mother’s vision for her dress and then helping to bring that vision to life.

Flower girl dresses

Bring in the little ones who will be walking down the aisle and let them piece through dozens of flower girl dress options! Flower girl hair pieces and accessories are all available too to help ensure she feels the part on the big day.

Accessories

As aforementioned, Kathleen’s Bridal is a true one-stop-shop for being outfitted on one’s big day, and that includes carrying a vast variety of shoes, handbags, clutches, jewelry, shawls/furs, hair pieces, and much more.

Winton and her team are ready to help a bride complement her look with pieces that will pull her entire wedding day look together.

Menswear

Tuxes are available to rent, and a groom’s tux is complimentary if at least six other members of the bridal party/family rent their tuxedo from Kathleen’s!

Tuxes are provided by Jim’s Formal Wear and are nearly as customizable as a bride’s options. From a variety of styles to colors to types of fits and more, the tux options are Kathleen’s are vast enough to suit all needs.
