Last fall I met Denise Sosnowski, owner of Just Breathe Massage Therapy in North Madison, and I fell in love with her business model immediately. I shared in this social media post how I really liked her simple pricing options: clients either choose from a 60 or 90-minute massage. That’s it! In a society where options seem abundant and decision-making can be overwhelming, Just Breathe takes the guesswork out of it and just offers those two simple options. Wonderful.
All About Just Breathe Massage Therapy
Upon arrival, a client will then have a brief five-minute pre-massage consultation where he or she will share what type of massage they’d prefer (i.e. deep tissue, Swedish, focus on a certain muscle group, etc.) and then enjoy!
I recently had the opportunity to catch back up with Sosnowski, who shared with me the history of her business and the passion that drives her to continue growing it (at what she would say has been a surprisingly rapid speed!). Later that day, I received an out-of-the-blue call from an extended family member who shared she wasn’t feeling well. She explained that she was experiencing extreme back pain in a specific area and was hoping I’d have a recommendation for a massage therapist that could see her quickly. I felt fully confident referring her to the Just Breathe website to make a quick appointment.
The conversation with my family member reminded me that while massage therapy is often considered a luxury, it is often very physically and mentally healing as well!
Just Breathe Massage Therapy opened in May of 2018 and has since grown to a staff of five licensed and experienced massage therapists.
Massage Therapy in Madison, Alabama
Sosnowski says that she and her husband moved to the Madison area to be near family after her husband retired from the Marine Corp. While her husband was serving, she attended and graduated from a massage therapy institute in North Carolina and then opened and operated her own massage therapy business.
When her family made the decision to move to Alabama, Sosnowski closed her business but never lost her passion or ambition for massage therapy. Because opening a new business is no small feat, Sosnowski took a managerial role at a local Domino’s after moving to the area and says that that experience was incredibly beneficial.
After a few years though, Sosnowski knew that it was time to get back to doing what she loved, and she set out to open Just Breathe Massage Therapy. She says that her business took off slowly but surely, and she had every reason to feel optimistic that she’d made the right choice in opening her own business.
The pandemic came swooping in just two years into her new venture though, and Sosnowski was devastated.
“I was so worried that people would give up getting their massages, and I just knew that I’d never get to where I needed to be in order to keep my doors open,” she explained.
She says that she surprisingly never experienced a dip in the traffic through her massage therapy location though.
“People were working from home and didn’t have the right chairs and desks, and their joints were hurting because of it.”
She also shared that many of their clients found mental relief during their visits to Just Breathe and that the physical touch was welcomed during a stressful time.
As aforementioned, Just Breathe Massage Therapy has now grown to a team of five therapists who all specialize and focus on various forms of massage therapy. Their bios and specialties are listed on their website when booking.
Something Sosowski says is a bit unique at Just Breathe but highly appreciated by repeat clients are the private, individual suites that function as waiting areas and consultation spaces. Each therapy room has its own separate suite, so guests are never seated in large waiting areas with other guests. Many guests appreciate this because they say it lends to the overall atmosphere of peace, quiet, and tranquility.
These private waiting areas are also where guests and therapists have pre and post-massage consultations. The pre-massage consultation determines what type of massage is right for the client that day, and the post-massage chat is to discuss any findings the therapist discovered during the massage as well as discuss a potential treatment plan moving forward (if applicable).
Sosnowski says that Just Breathe Massage Therapy in Madison, Alabama is the ideal solution for anyone needing stress reduction, extreme tightness, chronic pain in the neck or bain, or general calming of the body and mind.
When asked what the easiest way to book an appointment is, Sosnowski says that their online platform is the way to go. She says that it’s set up to be user-friendly and informative.
She says that while Just Breathe generally has a few next-day or same-week appointments available, she highly suggests booking as far out as possible for couples massages in particular.
Pre-natal massages are available as well!
