We are so excited to announce the 1st annual All Things Madison Jingle Bell Rock Hunt, a family-friendly, socially-distant activity kicking off today, Friday, November 6th, and finishing up with a big search for rocks that are worth a lot of cash on Saturday, November 14th.

All Things Madison Jingle Bell Rock Hunt 2020

The Jingle Bell Rock Hunt is a community-wide event that will culminate in individuals and families sprinting around town on Saturday, November 14th looking for eight different rocks that are each worth $150. The best part is that families aren’t limited to the prize money from just one rock!

Play all day, and you might just win some serious cash before the holidays.

Clues will be released on Instagram on the hour, EVERY hour between 9 a.m and 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 14th. Follow @allthingsMadisonAL, turn on notifications, and then watch all day long for clues about where to find the rock.

Here’s the catch though. In order to claim your prize money, you must have two things: the rock and a ticket that matches.

How to collect tickets

Between Friday, November 6th and Friday, November 13th, seven participating businesses in Madison will be handing out tickets in-store (each store has its own ticket), so you’ll need to travel around town throughout the next week to collect each ticket. Each business only has 500 tickets, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hurry!

Once you’ve collected the tickets, you’ll notice that each ticket has a different time on it. This is the time that the clue will be released on All Things Madison’s Instagram page for where to find the rock and win the money. No tickets will be handed out after Friday, November 13th, so make sure you have all of the tickets prior to the rock hunt on the 14th in order to participate and claim your prize(s).

(Psst: There will be one rock hunt during the day that does not require a ticket and will be open for the entire community. Those who collect all seven tickets will have an advantage though because they’ll notice which hour is missing from their collection of tickets. The missing hour is the time that I’ll be sharing the clue for that particular rock.)

What do I do if I find the rock?

First of all, do a cartwheel and celebrate! Second, log into Instagram and go back to the post where you first saw the clue. Tag @allthingsMadisonAL in a comment and let me know that the rock has been found. Next, send me a direct message with a picture of the rock and the ticket. Remember, the business name on the rock AND the logo on the ticket must match! Once verified, I’ll pay you via Venmo, PayPal, etc.

Let’s break down the steps again.

Read these closely, folks.

  1. Make note of the seven participating businesses in town.
  2. Visit each location during their operating hours before Saturday, November 14th (these hours will of course vary from business to business) and ask an employee for a Jingle Bell Rock Hunt ticket. One ticket per family, please. Please refrain from collecting tickets for your friends, co-workers, etc. Businesses have been instructed to hand out only one ticket per family.
  3. Turn notification on for @allthingsMadisonAL on Instagram so that you are notified the very second I share the clue for each business (one business per hour) on Saturday, November 14th.
  4. Jump in your car and dash around town looking for the rocks!
  5. Notify me via Instagram that you found the rock AND that you have the matching ticket. Cha-ching!

Should we break it done just ONE MORE TIME?

(Because I promise this is easy!)

  1. Visit businesses by Friday, November 13th to collect tickets.
  2. Watch Instagram between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 14th.
  3. Find rock.
  4. Notify me.
  5. Get paid.

P.S. This will be a rain or shine event!

I hope you guys are as excited about this as we are. It’s been a YEAR, am I right? We all need an extra dose of fun, of fresh air, of more activities that are safe to participate in. Pending the success of this year’s event, we will be making this an annual November event that your family can make a part of their holiday traditions year after year.

We can’t wait to see your pictures from collecting tickets and hunting for the rocks, so tag us all over social media!

Our local businesses also need your help! When grabbing your tickets around town, take your time and check out these businesses that you possibly haven’t visited before. We need these businesses in our community, and THEY NEED US!

Watch this video below for more instructions about the All Things Madison Jingle Bell Rock Hunt. We can’t wait to see you out around town on Saturday, November 14th. We hope you have SO MUCH FUN!
