“Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Madison resident Erica De Leon fully agrees with this sentiment and is ecstatic to be living it out via her business It’s All Gouda.
It’s All Gouda Charcuterie Boards in Madison, Alabama
It’s All Gouda is a home-delivery charcuterie board business where De Leon uses the highest-quality ingredients that she can find to create attractive, tasty boards for families and party sizes of all kinds.
De Leon, a southern California native who moved with her family to Madison two years ago, has been making charcuterie boards every New Years’ Eve for the last 10+ years and has always seen it as a form of art.
“We have family in this area, so it’s been really nice the last few years to make the boards for more holidays,” shared De Leon.
De Leon shared that grazing tables are some of her favorite to make because “everyone is going to find something that they love on the board.”
She went to say that “because people always eat with their eyes first, they love the visual presentation of charcuterie boards.”
It’s All Gouda boards are typically made of organic fruits and vegetables, high-quality meats, and as many locally-sourced items as possible. Boards are all made out of a commercial kitchen where every COVID-19 precaution is taken.
De Leon shared that shopping at local farmer’s markets is one of her favorite places to gather items for her customers.
“Jams, honey, produce, you name it. I love that putting together my boards helps other businesses grow as well. These boards could represent five different local businesses, and I love that.”
It’s All Gouda offers boards that come in five different sizes but will accept custom orders as well. Most orders are served on a disposable bakery board but that all customers are given the option to upgrade to a wooden board that they can keep.
Boards can also be made on-site and be highly customized, such as adding little “Happy Birthday” decor or shaping cheeses into a number.
It’s All Gouda offers pork-free, vegetarian, and vegan options as well.
When asked what her motivation was to launch this business venture, De Leon shared that her dream of being an entrepreneur coupled with losing her brother to cancer was all the drive she needed to make It’s All Gouda come to life.
“I ended up making my first board the day after he passed away,” De Leon shared. “My brother was an immigrant who worked hard and made the American Dream work for him, and I’m so inspired by him.”
De Leon says that she always wanted to show her daughters, ages 16 and 13, what it’s like to start from the ground and work your way up through hard work.
“My girls are getting older and need me less and less, so I was ready to do something for myself.”
