The odds are high that if you’ve landed on this article on allthingsmadison.com, it’s because you’re dealing with some rodent issue, or because you’ve dealt with one in the past and never want to again.
If you’ve ever dealt with a rodent problem, you know how consuming it can be. We were there a few years ago, and it often feels gross and keeps you up at night, too, literally (more about that later!) For us, the issue did not resolve itself overnight, and it was extremely challenging to deal with.
I wish we had known about Scout Pest Control then, because I am confident they would have tackled our issue much more efficiently.
For this reason, I am genuinely glad to share with you information about our favorite pest control company, including who to call, how they handle the issue, and how to prevent rodents in your home, so that you never have to deal with them again.
Spoiler alert: if you’re already a Scout Pest Control customer, adding rodent prevention and services to your existing plan is only about $8–$10 a month. So, this is not something that will not break the bank!
First, Scout Pest Control isn’t a big national chain. While many large companies are acquiring local ones, Scout has remained a locally owned company. We have personally experienced the huge difference this makes in customer service! It’s 10/10 good.
We’ve been customers for almost four years, and they’ve completely earned our trust. They’ve treated my family, friends, and All Things Madison readers so well, and they consistently provide good service, which matters a great deal to us.
What I’ve Learned About Rodents (Thanks to Scout)
Rodents spend spring, summer, and fall out in the fields reproducing quickly. As the weather cools down, though, they start looking for food and warmth, and unfortunately, our homes are perfect for both. Oy!
They can chew through almost anything because their teeth are so incredibly sharp, and they leave pheromone trails that attract even more rodents. For this reason, if you see any signs of rodents, they’ve probably been there longer than you realize.
Something new I learned: Did you know that rats are neophobic? This means that they are incredibly smart but afraid of new things, which makes them harder to trap once they’ve settled in.
For this reason, Scout heavily emphasizes treating preventively before a problem arises (hence their affordable add-on service).
Additionally, Scout Pest Control emphasizes the importance of paying attention to any noises you may hear at night. Rats and mice are nocturnal, so if you’re hearing things scurrying around at night, you likely have some uninvited friends!
Scout will take care of everything, from strategizing and monitoring to adjusting and customizing a plan that fits your home. I’ve heard from so (so!) many people who have switched to Scout’s services after being disappointed elsewhere, and every single one has thanked me later.
My recommendation: Give them a call (256-216-1088), explain your home’s specific needs (rodents, mosquitoes, pests, termites), and let them come up with the most cost-effective way to treat your home. They are good people, and I know they’ll take great care of your family, just as they have for mine.
Give them a call for a custom quote (my recommendation!): 256-216-1088
