While Chuck’s Fish is so much more than seafood and sushi, the seafood and sushi are still the OG stars of the show!
I knew from my first visit to Chuck’s Fish in Madison that this would be one of the most popular restaurants in the area, and it has exceeded the expectations of many!
The atmosphere feels warm and elevated, but casual enough that you feel invited to sink in and fully relax. I have heard many guests agree with me that there is something special about the interior “view”; It’s so nice to look around and see other people enjoy their evening out.
There aren’t interior TVs competing for your attention, and the decor feels very family-like but artsy and elevated.
The covered patio is one of the best patios in Madison. Guests will find tables to dine at as well as loveseats and cushioned chairs to sink into and sip a cocktail. It’s cozy but open and absolutely perfect for lingering longer than you planned. It works for date nights, celebrations, or entertaining out-of-town guests.
When people search for the best seafood in Madison, AL, sourcing always matters.
Chuck’s Fish was founded by Charles Morgan, who grew up fishing on the Gulf Coast. Before opening restaurants, he built long-standing relationships along the Florida coast that led to Harbor Docks, which is a dockside seafood market and wholesale operation in Destin, Florida.
Because Chuck’s sources through Harbor Docks in Destin, they control the seafood from the water to the kitchen. INCREDIBLE.
It isn’t passed through multiple distributors, sitting around losing freshness. It’s selected, handled, and transported with freshness top of mind!
Seafood lovers who know this about Chuck’s Fish really, really love it for this reason!
Take one look at the menu, and it’s so obvious that the quality sourcing of the seafood is on full display in the tremendous variety of tasty options.
Seafood-based starters include seafood gumbo (cup or bowl), calamari, squid salad, and tuna poke nachos layered with diced yellowfin, avocado, soy glaze, jalapeños, green onions, and crispy wonton chips.

The smoked yellowfin tuna dip served with homemade potato chips and candied jalapeños is a standout appetizer. You can’t go wrong with any of it!
Entrées rotate with the Gulf fish of the day (grilled or bronzed). You’ll also find sautéed red snapper, Parmesan-crusted grouper, grouper piccata, sesame-seared yellowfin tuna, stuffed shrimp, fried Gulf shrimp, and shrimp & chorizo rigatoni.

And then there’s the sushi, often named among the best sushi in Madison, Alabama!
It’s all made using traditional Japanese techniques with high-quality ingredients, of course. More than 30 rolls are on the sushi menu, plus here’s a pro tip: ask for the secret menu to discover even more rolls!
From the regular sushi menu, The Black Dragon (soft shell crab, baked eel, avocado, sweet soy) and the Kenji (tuna, bacon, tempura, Kewpie, sweet soy, black pepper) are two local favorites!
