I first learned about Fit Five Meals in July 2022 and placed my first order on August 1st. Though Fit Five Meals had a large footprint in Birmingham and other cities throughout Alabama and Georgia, it was new to the Madison/Huntsville area, and I was eager to give it a try. I vividly remember feeling timid as I walked into Empire Fitness on Balch Road to pick up my order, though quickly realizing that grabbing them was a cinch (I had absolutely nothing to be intimidated about!)
A large refrigerator contained a bag with my name on it, and I was able to grab, go, and enjoy it!
Since then, I’ve put in 16 weekly orders and enjoyed over 150 menu items, which include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and protein-packed snacks!
As someone whose schedule requires frequent lunches and dinners out at restaurants, being able to have quick access to healthy meals at home is something I’m incredibly grateful for. I typically order 8-10 meals per week (depending on the rotating menu and what it offers) and enjoy them for at least one meal per day.
What is Fit Five Meals?
Fit Five Meals is a Birmingham-based company that creates delicious, varied, healthy meals that are individually packaged to either refrigerate or freeze. Customers order via the Fit Five Meals website (the deadline each week is Wednesday evening) and then select a location to pick up their order the following Monday. Because I work out each morning at Burn Boot Camp and they’re now a pick-up location for Fit Five Meals, it’s incredibly easy to finish my workout, grab my meals from the refrigerator, and take them home to enjoy throughout the week.
After enjoying more than 150 menu items, I can say with full confidence that these meals are filling, balanced, and something I immensely enjoy reaching for and eating.
Some of my favorite breakfast items are the protein-packed overnight outs, breakfast burritos, and the Bama breakfast (which I often enjoy for dinner too!)
My favorite lunch and dinner options are the Monterrey Jack Chicken, the Steak & Broccolini, the Kickin’ Chicken Totchos, and any of the delicious pizzas (my favorite food in general).
Each meal includes a full nutrition label and is typically already pre-loaded into MyFitnessPal too!
My Routine with Fit Five Meals
Once I get home with my meals on Monday mornings, I put a couple of meals in the refrigerator and the rest in the freezer. When I’m ready to eat the ones in the refrigerator, I heat them for approximately 90 seconds per the recommendation of Fit Five Meals. As I eat the meals in the refrigerator, I’ll put one or two from the freezer to dethaw in the refrigerator. Easy!
I work from home, and it’s an absolute lifesaver to be able to head to my kitchen when I’m hungry for lunch and grab a meal to quickly heat up. If I were working in an office where I had a refrigerator available, these meals would be perfect to throw in a bag for work and bring along to heat up.
I love these meals because I know that whatever my lunch is will be packed with protein, will be ready in minutes, and has balanced macros (protein, carbs, and fat).
Meals average about $11 per meal, which is less than any of my fast food lunch meals have cost lately at Chick-fil-A, Panera, etc. The only option cheaper would be making my meals at home, though sometimes I am happy to pay a couple of extra dollars for the convenience of something that tastes homemade but was easily reheatable in just a few minutes.
Final Thoughts
Ask me in a year if I’m still ordering Fit Five Meals weekly, and the answer will be a quick yes. The convenience, price, balanced nutrition label, and overall taste of these meals keep me a solid customer!
