When local resident Brenda Lee FaBela-Knoell was ready to get back to work after the pandemic forced her Huntsville beauty salon to close, she had two choices: she would either return to an industry she had worked in and loved for more than 17 years or chart a totally new course.

FaBela-Knoell says that she had worked in the beauty business nearly all of her adult life but she was ready to make a change. She had acquired her cosmetology license when she was just 17 years old and has owned and worked in salons ever since. Though she still has a passion for all things related to the beauty business, FaBela-Knoell decided to go out on a limb and tap into another passion of hers: the fashion industry.
“I’ve always loved fashion,” she says with a smile when thinking back on making the decision to open her brand new store called FaBela’s Trendy Styles and Unique Gifts.
“Some days I like to dress conservatively while other days I’m dressed up a bit more or more casual, and because I like to diversify how I dress, I’ve decided to diversify what I offer in the store.”
FaBela’s, a nod to Brenda Lee’s maiden name, is located on the south side of Madison across the street from Insanity Complex. It’s full to the brim with women’s apparel of all kinds, from sundresses to athleisure items to work attire and more, and it’s all divided up by size. FaBela’s currently carries sizes S through 2XL.
Brenda Lee says that one of her favorite aspects of working in a clothing boutique is helping women find items that make them feel their best. She says that she loves being a “personal assistant” of sorts with her guests that come into the store and pulling items off the rank that she think would look great on them.
Another section of FaBela’s is the gift item and home decor area. Brenda Lee, a Texas native, says that many of the items guests will find in the home decor section have a nod to her home state and “it’s very different style”.
Home decor and gift items range from lamps, prints by local photographers, wall decor, decadent soaps, handmade cutting boards, and much more.
The final section that Brenda Lee is giddy about is her gathering space that’s located in the back of the store. Adorned with faux flowers, comfortable throw pillows, and trendy furniture, Brenda Lee has created a space that community members can reserve free of charge to use as they wish. She has tables and chairs on hand that she is happy to set out for guests to use for their event.
Guests that are interested in reserving the space within FaBela’s are invited to call the store and leave a detailed message with the requested day and time that they’d like to use the space as well as share a bit about the event that will be hosted.
