I’ve been an eyebrow-threading customer at Threading Beauty for years, and after another great visit last week, I decided to stick around after my service to talk to the owner and find out more about her salon. Threading Beauty was opened by Mina Patel in May 2017 after she moved to north Alabama from India to be closer to family. She says she really likes living here and has been very happy.
I was surprised to discover that Patel runs the threading salon completely solo. She doesn’t have any other employees and works 10+ hour days, six days a week. (Hearing this made me want to write this story even more because I can’t imagine sweet Mina sitting there all day without customers due to COVID. She said it’s been a rocky year with a very inconsistent, unpredictable number of customers.)
Though Patel has only ever threaded by eyebrows, she also provides threading for a slew of other facial areas. (I watch her do whole faces for other customers all the time!)
Patel is the only professional that I will let touch my brows. All I do is sit in her chair without saying a word, and she knows how to clean them up in a way that always leaves me satisfied. She shapes them so well, thins them appropriately, and is speedy. I’m in and out in 5 minutes or less if there are no other customers ahead of me.
Patel’s salon does not accept appointments and is on a walk-in basis only. If there is a wait ahead of you, simply sign in and take a seat. Again, Patel is efficient, so one’s wait shouldn’t be long (unless this article gives her a boost in business – which is my hope! – because she is so deserving of it!)
Every time I have visited Threading Beauty, Patel has been wearing a mask.
Additionally, I almost always bring one, two, or all three of my children with me to Threading Beauty because I’m usually swinging in spontaneously when I’m on that side of Madison. Patel couldn’t be kinder to them and always gives them a small lollipop while they sit quietly on the sofa and wait.
Patel is such a sweet, incredibly hardworking member of our community whose business has suffered due to the pandemic. If you’re looking for someone to clean up or reshape your brows or to remove unwanted facial hair, swing into Threading Beauty, meet Patel, and leave satisfied.
