From baby showers to birthday parties to gift baskets and more, decorated custom cookies have rapidly become a highly sought-after sweet treat. Most of these sugar cookies are made with royal icing and are nothing short of impressive works of art. These cookie bakers are able to take their clients’ visions and turn them into edible, attractive party favors and gifts.

A local relative was recently looking for a baker to create custom, individually-packaged cookies to gift her physical therapy office, so I reached out to our fantastic All Things Madison Instagram community and asked for their suggestions. These are the top suggestions!

“Peaceful Pastries and Sweets was started in 2015 by 10-year-old Joshua Wortham. He wanted to raise enough money to attend Peacebuilder’s Camp and was good at baking, so he started a business. It grew quickly and is now a family-owned business with over 7,000 followers on Facebook and hundreds of repeat customers.

Joshua was awarded Youth Entrepreneur of the Year for North Alabama last year and his little brother, Caleb, was awarded it this year for his 3D printing company that makes all of the cookie cutters for the bakery. Josh was also awarded a Hero Award chosen from among millions by PeaceJam and 12 Nobel Peace Laureates for his peace-spreading efforts in the bakery.

He endured brain surgery in December at the same time his dad was still in the hospital after fighting for his life and being in a coma. All of the things the bakery and family have endured make them stronger and the bakery grows bigger every year thanks to the support of this wonderful community. Our specialty is custom-decorated cookies and DIY Cookie Kits, but we also make party and wedding cakes, gluten-free meringues, bread, and chocolate-covered treats.”

“I started as an electrical engineer mom who wanted to make treats for her kids, and to take as gifts for the teachers. Now I am a homeschool mom, to three beautiful children! I continued making treats for my kids birthdays and friends birthdays and people started asking me if I would sell the cookies! Thanks to the encouragement of my friends and family, Sweet Treat Therapy was born in August 2018.”
