If you enjoy checking out the new spots in Madison, this is one to absolutely know about (and visit soon). CHIKINJIP has been open for only a few months (officially opened in December 2025), but it’s already making a big splash in the food scene on County Line Road! This restaurant is a true local, family-owned spot and is one of a kind in our area (not a franchise).
CHIKINJIP serves Korean food the way it is supposed to be, with sauces and powders developed in Korea! This chicken is crispy but very light, and the flavors are incredibly bold and delicious! You are going to love this one.
In Korea, there’s a tradition called chimaek, where people enjoy chicken and beer together. It’s how people hang out and relax together over a shared meal and beverage.
CHIKINJIP brings this tradition to Madison and offers very affordable beer options: $4.99 Sapporo (16oz) and $6.99 Guinness (16oz.)
If you’re bringing the whole crew, I would highly recommend dining in and ordering the Ultimate Family Combo. Priced at $69.99, this option is dine-in only and feeds a crowd. Though the menu lists this tray as great for 3-4 people, it can certainly feed several more. You’ll get multiple types of chicken, dumplings, sauces, fries, and more. It’s absolutely one of the best-value meals in Madison right now!
For newer menu items, the sizzling spicy pork (which is served with rice and soup, dine-in only) has been getting a ton of attention due to its perfect level of heat without being a scorcher or overwhelming. The flavors are insane!
Other crowd favorites include:
-Soy garlic chicken
-Creamy onion chicken (unique and so good!)
-Chicken sandwich (a crispy classic with a slight ChikinJip spin!)
The sauces here are what really bring Korean fried chicken (and CHIKINJIP in general!) to life!
Their signature “yum yum” is actually yangneom, a sweet-and-spicy glaze and the heart of Korean chicken. It’s sweet with a little heat and just so good!
There’s also soy garlic, which is wildly popular for a reason! It leans more savory with a bold, flavorful sweetness that feels like such a true reflection of Korea’s love for deeply satisfying food.
If you want to keep things simple, though, ChikinJip is ready to please! Their original Korean fried chicken (available mild or spicy) is incredibly crispy but light (and not greasy!) You’ll love it!
Their wings follow the same philosophy with mild and spicy options in their signature marinade. Expect the mild flavor to be something anyone could love, which the spicy brings a noticeable kick (that still isn’t too overpowering). Think “flavorful” over “hot hot”.
Now, the powder. Because I love the powder! It’s so unique. CHIKINJIP uses a sweet, dry seasoning (that is completely addictive) to coat the chicken and the fries so well that you won’t need a dipping sauce. Ask for the powder in either sweet or spicy!
Speaking of dipping sauces, you won’t find ranch here on purpose. Ranch can overpower the flavor and make it taste like standard fried chicken, and the whole goal here is to highlight the distinct identity of Korean flavors.
That said, they are working on a Korean-inspired ranch that better complements their food, so that’s something to look forward to!
CHIKINJIP is primarily a dine-in restaurant with sit-down service, with a fun K-pop vibe that reflects its Korean roots. It’s casual, very welcoming, and designed for you to take a big breath and relax without feeling rushed.
They’re open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week!

Yes. Even though it’s authentic Korean food, the flavors are super approachable. Kids LOVE the chicken.
The $70 family meal is the best value. For individuals, try soy garlic or creamy onion chicken. I also think anything with bulgogi is out of sight!
Some items have heat, but nothing overwhelming. Even the spicy pork is more “flavorful kick” than extreme spice.
Yes, absolutely, but some of their best items (like the family meal and pork dish) are dine-in only.
Their sauces and powders are developed in Korea, and they focus on authentic flavor.
A Korean tradition of enjoying chicken and beer together. It’s as good as it sounds!
If you’re tired of eating at the same places over and over again, and you want something that feels different (but still works for your whole family), CHIKINJIP may be a slam dunk! The portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and there is truly something for every taste bud!
