Explosive growth throughout the Tennessee Valley has led to a rapid surge in new-construction apartment complexes and other rental living options in the area. Though each new apartment community has subtle differentiators ranging from amenities, monthly rent price, and general aesthetics, there is another differentiator (amongst several!) that sets properties by Sealy Management Company apart from others: their Vice Presidents (a husband and wife team) live right here in the Tennessee Valley and are personally invested in helping the North Alabama area reach new heights.

Sealy Management Company has properties all over the southeast and is best known in North Alabama for bringing to life communities such as Belk Hudson Lofts in Huntsville, The Avenue in downtown Huntsville, The Avenue Madison near Downtown Madison, and 1010 Elliston, their newest community in Madison just north of HWY 72.

Several of these apartment communities were built in conjunction with popular commercial destinations such as Melt, Purveyor, and Honest Coffee (Madison).

Sealy Management Company was started by Charlie O. Sealy in 1955, though it didn’t begin making its way to North Alabama until the mid-1990s.

(Fun fact: Did you know that Sealy Management Company has never sold any of its properties in nearly 80 years? They are passionate about long-term planning and investing and are proud of their longevity with each property across the southeast.)

Sealy Management Company Vice President Charlie Sealy III says that he made the move to the Huntsville area in the early 2000s when his father asked for his help in overseeing a brand new apartment community in Huntsville.

Sealy was more than willing to give his father a hand, but didn’t initially foresee that he would join the family business for the long haul.

“I grew up around all of this,” shares Sealy, “and it took me a few years of working after college to realize that I actually really liked it.”

Around the time that Sealy was traveling often to North Alabama, he became engaged to Sasha and began making plans about where they wanted to live.

“We were trying to determine where we were going to end up, and when we saw the Huntsville area, we saw it as having opportunity.”

Sealy says that they were impressed by the strong business climate and great quality of life.

“We felt like this area was going to really grow and thrive,” so they made the move to Huntsville and never looked back.

Once settled in the area, Sealy began making plans to acquire properties and build others from the ground up.

While Charlie was busy in the early days of bringing new concepts to North Alabama, Sasha had yet to dabble with working alongside her husband at Sealy. It wasn’t until Sasha dove in head first with the Belk Hudson Lofts community in 2008 that she discovered her passion for creating enjoyable communities to live and play.

“I have eagle eyes,” jokes Sasha, who says that her attention to detail is driven by creating a really nice, welcoming home for the residents. She says that she and Charlie have both personally scrubbed floors to ensure a timely opening date and hospitable experience for those upon move-in day.

Sealy Management Company currently has 15 properties and over 2,400 apartments in the area. Though each community strikes a bit of a unique tone from the others, Charlie says that Sealy Management Company strives for each community to offer options for interacting with others and amenities galore.

Sasha shares that Sealy Management Company does not employ designers and that she and Charlie enjoy taking note of the eye-catching elements and then incorporating them in a variety of ways into their properties here in North Alabama and beyond.

“Our properties aren’t cookie cutter,” she shares. “Each property has it’s own personality. We’ll sometimes even incorporate historic elements that are discovered during the creation of a project!”

“At our core, our focus is bringing good and diverse products to the market that we work in,” Sealy shares.

Charlie and Sasha are also passionate about the culture of the company as a whole and maintaining a commitment to upholding a family atmosphere amongst management, staff, and residents.

“We work really hard with our managers and staff on every level to provide a great experience for everyone involved at Sealy,” Charlie shares. “This is a family company, and our residents feel like family to us too.”

When asked what keeps Charlie and Sasha excited to continue bringing to life more places to live, play, and dine in North Alabama, they both share that they are driven by an increasing population, the tremendous job growth in the area, the general business climate, and the vast number of “great things coming to our community.”

Sasha continued to share that “we live here, we are active here, and we care about being in touch with what’s happening with these properties along the way.”

Charlie and Sasha both share that they would be remiss to not praise the leadership of both Huntsville and Madison and cannot say enough good things about the ways these leadership teams have supported Sealy Management Company and their endeavors to help build strong communities.
