Every now and then, I take y’all just outside Madison because it may mean getting more house (and often a better price per square foot) without moving that far away. And Brier Fork Crossing in Northeast Huntsville is one of those places I think is worth having on your radar!
I vividly remember pulling into this neighborhood by accident several months ago when I made a wrong turn. I was so glad I did; The aesthetic of Brier Fork Crossing knocked my socks off! The homes had stunning cohesion, while each still had its own custom-built charm.
I felt like I was in a Nashville suburb, and I wanted to learn more!
There isn’t a giant entrance screaming for attention, nor is the community huge in lot or resident number. In fact, it’s pleasantly small (just 23 homesites) and is tucked away in a Northeast Huntsville community on purpose. It’s close enough to amenities to be desirable (hello to Publix right around the corner!), yet tucked away enough to give homeowners the feeling of a retreat from the hustle and bustle.
Bart Darwin (of Bart Darwin Builders) and Bentley Walls (of Wal Bilt, Inc.) are brothers-in-law, both Huntsville natives, and custom builders who share deep roots and great pride in North Alabama. Both builders have been building in North Alabama since the late 90s!
They farm in the area, raised their families here, and wanted to partner to build something special close to home.
So Brier Fork Crossing was born.
Of the 23 homesites at Brier Fork Crossing, many are one-half acre or larger, which is something that is becoming harder and harder to find in the North Alabama area with new construction. Some homesites even back up to the peaceful sounds of the Flint River.
It’s a quick 10-12 minute drive from Downtown Huntsville and just 19 minutes from Redstone Arsenal’s Gate 9!
While the community itself is worth a second look, it’s really the homes (all built by either Bart Darwin or Bentley Walls) that make Brier Fork one of a kind!
These are far from “spec-home quality”, which is very apparent as soon as you cross the threshold inside! These brothers-in-law bring tremendous care to every home, adding finishes that are typically hard to come by at this price point. Things like high-quality Marvin windows, extra-wide driveways, insulated garage doors that are roomy enough for the big vehicle you may drive, generator-ready set-ups, natural gas connections, bathtub tile carried all the way to the ceiling, and so many thoughtful built-ins in every closet!
The list of quality touches goes on and on with these two builders, especially in this neighborhood!
I have toured dozens of new-construction homes over the last few years, and I was blown away by how thoughtful these builders are about how a home feels when it’s lived in.
For example, Bentley Walls knows that some siblings may disagree about who gets which room if one seems to have more perks than another. For this reason, he has two near-identical rooms that are mirror images of each other, so siblings have one less thing to argue over.
A few features that had me audibly gawking when I toured these two stunners:
The two builders can work interchangeably at Brier Fork Crossing and beyond (since these two spec homes are all that remain in this community!)
Buyers can choose an available spec home or customize one of their plans around how their family lives, and have it built on the lot of their choice in the North Alabama region. This process includes sitting down with a draftsman, bringing a designer into the conversation, and then paying attention to the everyday annoyances that can be designed out of the home before the foundation is ever poured!
Bart and Bentley would personally move into these homes themselves, which speaks volumes about their craftsmanship, character, and functionality!
Plus, the community’s overall “Nashville vibe” is hard to beat!
