Downtown Madison is OFFICIALLY one to watch!
With its brand new Main Street Alabama designation, this area has been recognized as a place FULL of so much potential (the type of potential that turns a quaint downtown into the true heart of a city!)
The best downtowns always have a great variety of businesses, from retail to restaurants to fitness and so much more.
But the truly special ones with the most unique destinations have shops like Lemon & Lavender.
This locally-owned, ONLY IN MADISON gem (!) is tucked beneath an attractive black and white awning right smack in the middle of Main Street. In short, it carries products for your body, home, and your life in general.
Everything on the shelves is non-toxic, eco-friendly, well-organized, and beautifully displayed! During every visit, I stop to smell all the candles, browse through the teas, discover new beauty items, and pick up a gift or two!
Every. Single. Visit. Without fail!
But this store isn’t just about the STUFF itself (though I do think you will adore the “stuff”).
Lemon and Lavender was founded in downtown Madison in 2021 by two local moms (Shannon Fisher and Brandy Booth) who wanted to create a retail shop that mattered. They wanted to leave the earth better for their families and build a store that reflected their shared passion.
Every item is VERY carefully selected or created with sustainability top of mind. From the ingredient lists to the shipping materials to the packaging it arrives in, Brandy and Shannon make their mission CRYSTAL CLEAR: fall in love with products that are good for you and good for the planet!
But then…. there’s The Refillery!
Did you know that you can bring in your own containers and refill them with everything from shampoo and body wash to laundry detergent and dish pods? They have made it SO SIMPLE, beautiful, and totally doable!
If you don’t have your own jars to bring in, feel free to browse their gorgeous glass jars (for purchase).
Since moving into their new Main Street location in the fall of 2023, Lemon and Lavender has become a MAJOR HUB for workshops and community! Sourdough baking, candle pouring, chunky blanket knitting, and SO MUCH MORE. It’s fabulous!
Whether you come to shop, learn, gift, or just explore (and smell ALL the candles!), you’ll enjoy your trip into Lemon and Lavender!
And about downtown Madison in general, be on the lookout to watch it grow, grow, grow! It’s currently full of so many amazing small businesses doing big things, but there is so much more to come.
Oh, and don’t forget that parking is always free downtown!
Lemon & Lavender is open seven days a week from 10a-6p Monday through Saturday and from 10a-3p on Sunday.
