After a quiet 2020 holiday season, Madison’s calendar is once again jam-packed with new and familiar outings alike that will be sure to spread joy throughout the community this December.
3rd Annual Madison Christmas Capers
When: Sunday, December 12th from 4-5 p.m.
Where: Main Street (downtown)
This event is presented by The City of Madison and Madison Station Preservation Society.
“Doc Hughes’ grandsons Larry and Walter Anderson will be re-enacting the Historic Christmas Capers Rubber Chickens with gift vouchers tied to their legs that will be tossed from the balcony of Hughes Drug store. The total value of gift vouchers is in the thousands! Hot chocolate and cookies will be served by the Rotary Club of Madison. The Madison City Community Orchestra will provide entertainment.”
2nd Annual Madison Christmas Movie
When: Sunday, December 12th at 5:30 p.m.
Where: Home Place Park (the newly renovated park and amphitheater near the City Schools Stadium)
This event is presented by The City of Madison and Torch Technologies.
Parking will be available at Madison City Schools Stadium on Celtic Drive. Food trucks will be on site.
Madison Station Polar Express Christmas on Main Tree Trail
When: The official tree lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 2nd at 6 p.m. Trees will be displayed until January 3rd, 2022.
Where: Main Street (downtown)
This event is sponsored by the Madison Station Historical Preservation Society and The City of Madison.
If you would like to sponsor and decorate a tree, registration is open through November 19th while trees last. Trees will be installed on Wednesday, November 24th and are available to decorate after that date. Please email Debbie Overcash for a registration form.
Music will be provided by the Madison Community Orchestra. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served by the Rotary Club of Madison
1st Annual Wassail Fest
When: Thursday, December 2nd immediately after the tree lighting
Where: Main and Church Streets (downtown)
This event is sponsored by the Madison Downtown merchants.
Sample and vote for the best Wassail recipe and register for door prizes throughout downtown Madison.
The Madison, Alabama Christmas Parade
When: Saturday, December 11th at 5 p.m.
The route runs from Plaza Drive to Portal Lane.
The Rocket City Christmas Light Show & Winter Wonderland
When: November 12th, 2021 – January 2nd, 2022
Where: Toyota Field; Rocket City Trash Pandas stadium
Drive-thru Light Show: “A mile and a half maze of bright holiday lights awaits visitors at the Rocket City Christmas Light Show! Guests can drive through the magical safari-themed show around Toyota Field for $30 per car. The festivities will begin at 5:00 pm nightly. Simply tune in to the designated station on your vehicle’s radio and experience a spectacular synchronization of music and lights!”
Winter Wonderland: “Following the light show, wander into the Winter Wonderland presented by CTG for a whole host of holiday activities! This will include huts for hot chocolate plus cookie and ornament decorating, fire pits to make s’mores, character visits, shopping in The Junkyard team store, and more! The Winter Wonderland will be open through December 24th during all Christmas Light Show hours, 5 PM-9 PM daily.”
